Summary

As a specialist in wellbeing, I am committed to delivering a service of the highest quality, on-time and on-budget for a diverse client base. The past twenty years of working in the nutrition field has enabled me to develop a wide range of knowledge and skills – both inside and outside my field. All my work in the last five years has been at a senior level, partly but not exclusively influencing and delivering policy and processes in a regional and national arena.

Work Experience

2005 – to date
Consultant - Nutrition and Wellbeing
Through my consultancy, Nutrition and Wellbeing, I deliver guidance on wellbeing through policy and practice for public and private organisations. 
Clients and projects include:

  • School Food Trust: Nutrition Analysis Support Project; Phase 2 review of menu planning and nutrient analysis software
  • MEND (Mind, Exercise, Nutrition and Diet): Programme manuals and strategic planning
  • London Metropolitan University: Visiting lecturer nutrition and dietetics
  • Preston Food Access Project: Consultant working with City University Food Policy Unit
  • Good Food Training: Programme evaluation with City University
  • The Rhondda, Cynon, Taff Primary Care Trust: Evaluation ‘Healthy Dragons’ lifestyle programme
  • MEL (Management Education and Learning): Childhood Lifestyle programme evaluation

2002 –2005
Nutrition Adviser - The Wales Centre for Health         
In my role as public health nutrition advisor I provided strategic advice and direction on the delivery of the Welsh nutrition policy.
Roles included:
Design and implementation of a multi-agency public health Nutrition Network for Wales active members include primary and secondary school teachers
Project management, design and implementation of the Nutrition Network for Wales website including engaging the head teachers association to provide representation on the project steering group
Project management of consultation on nutrition education and training for health and related professionals
Associate on team to develop NICE guidance on the prevention of obesity
Evaluation of nutrition training programme for PCT health staff
Organisation clinical governance lead 

2000 - 2001                                                   
Leadership Development Manager - Centre for Health Leadership in Wales
In my role as Leadership Development Manager I managed and created a new system for developing leaders within the Allied Health Professions in Wales.
Roles included:
Design and implementation of Allied Health Professional leadership programme in Wales
Management of the delivery of the Allied Health Professions leadership programme to 2 cohorts each of 15 senior NHS managers from a range of clinical professions
Delivery of leadership development in practical session

1992 – 2000
Head of Nutrition & Dietetic Services - Pontypridd & Rhondda NHS Trust
In my role as Head of Service I was responsible for the delivery of all nutrition and dietetic services to the NHS Trust in the region.
Roles included:
Introduction of a joint local authority & Trust Food for Health Strategy in 1998 including school based food standards
Strategic management of the Trust Nutrition and Dietetic service
Business planning and commissioning Nutrition and Dietetic services
Managing an annual budget of £440,000
Managing 18 members of staff
Creation of a 1st series of ‘Get Cooking’ Programmes in Wales. This format was later adopted by the Food Standards Agency for all of Wales
